Ghost Towns 03:10
Me and my Brother grew up with one another, We never had any plans, Until one summer we went and told our Mother, We’re forming a travelling band. We’ll go to cities, cities in other countries, We’ll traverse the open sea, Like Simon Fraser, our penchant for adventure, Will lead to discovery. I had a ship and my brother had a map We joined with some honest men, We trimmed the sails and pointed to a distant land, All aboard all hands! I went to see her, I went up there to see her, Before we set sail again, I told my lover, I told her that I loved her, And this isn’t the way it ends. I’ll go to cities, cities in other countries, It’s bound to get dangerous, But I’ll be careful, my heart will remain faithful, She’ll know it’s the truth because I’ll write her letters where I trace around my hand, And she could trace her hand in mine, Ten thousand miles would disappear between the lines. We set sail in moonlight, Our van is our ship and the sea is the night, Treelines float past, They’re ghosts of the land-locked towns staring through the glass, Ghosts of towns we pass.

Summer Song (free) 05:02
I woke up this morning in a summer town, The kind where people come from around, To cool down the day and heat up the night, And get some distance from the pressures of another life. The hottest seller is a pile of sand, And lying down is an action plan, The birds in the morning and the evening breeze, Flirt shamelessly with the trees. We held congress on the lawn, We opened sessions with a favourite song, And nobody cared if we ran it late, A drink shared with a brother it was just another filibuster. How the sun was our disease, We had a fever from the rising heat, Yeah we were right where, we wanted to be, It was a million degrees. Don’t walk walk walk walk along there’s a faster beat to a summer song, It’s cymbal wild and kick drum strong, It make make make makes you shake to a beat with a friend by the water’s edge, Can you feel your feet move yet? We all look better with sun in our eyes, Than when we wake up raining, When warmer colours replace our disguise, Of a silhouette smile, When we run around with eyes of a child, And everything is a mystery, If your leaves are falling and it’s cold in the night, Don’t hide don’t hide, Just take a little piece of the summertime. Get some sun in your eyes. Like the time you were a tumbleweed rolling through the prairies, Cause that’s the way the wind blew, There was a freedom in the static song singing through the radio, And in a rolled down window. Don’t walk walk walk walk along there’s a faster beat to summer song, That’s cymbal wild and kick drum strong, It make make makes you shake to the beat with a friend by the water’s edge, Do you feel your pulse rise yet? We all look better with sun in our eyes, Than when we wake up raining, When warmer colours replace our disguise, Of a silhouette smile, When we run around with eyes of a child, And everything is a mystery, If your leaves are falling and it’s cold in the night, Don’t hide don’t hide don’t hide, We all fall sometimes, We all lose our leaves. We’re all cold sometimes, And can’t fall asleep. Get some sun in your eyes, Remember the summer breeze, If your leaves are falling and it’s cold in the night, Don’t hide don’t hide just get some sun in your eyes.

Statuette 03:38
The night was buzzing like a swarm of bees, And all the party goers they were shaking their knees when I saw her there. At first I couldn’t really place her face, Cause her hair is a little longer and her clothes had changed taste, She looked older now, In her dress and with her hair unwound. She looked at me and she smiled, But her eyes right then looked like a couple lost kids in the forest, They were scared and they were all alone. I tried my best to reply, But I was tongue-tied and watery eyes wouldn’t let me fake it, So I just stood there like a statuette and tried to remember why the plaster set. As I recall it was a novel ago that didn’t end the way that I thought it would go, When I picked it up. Plotlines were tied in a hopeless ball and the characters they never quite developed at all, It dragged on and on and on, And when, She looked at me and she smiled, Well her eyes right then looked like a couple lost kids in the forest, They were scared and they were all alone. I tried my best to reply, But I was tongue-tied and watery eyes wouldn’t let me fake it, So I just stood there like a statuette, And I remembered what it felt like, To have all the King’s horses and all of his men fail again, To put you back the way you used to stand, We fill the cracks in with plaster, And laugh like we thought we used to when we were younger, Our eyes still betray they say, God bless the broken ones. May God bless the broken ones.

Streetlights 04:26
It’s quarter-to-three, And I just can’t sleep, I roll from my bed to my knees. I wander outside, It’s negative five, I fumble around for my keys, To drive up my quiet winter street. Streetlights shiver and glow, And hover in threes from the cold. As I drive, if truth be told, I’d rather be a streetlight than end up alone. My thoughts interrupted by the phone, It’s you on the line in a quiet voice, Calling me home. You’re calling me home.

Young Man (free) 04:53
A young man’s a river, He’s wild and strong, Sometimes he runs careless, Sometimes he is calm. Don’t know where he’s going, But you can see where he’s been, It’s there in the waves right behind, Like a driftwood bridge. The soft yellow light that kept the monsters home, That blue plastic razor that made him feel grown, The strange regal air of his Grandfather’s chair, Always on guard even though he’s never there, Those crowfoot lines by his father’s eyes, That always seemed to him like footprints of a smile, And floating in the back after those branches have passed, A small paper note, The first song that he wrote to a breeze, Before it blew off to sea. The Old West Wind came blowing, He came like a ghost, Who floated from somewhere off of the coast, He said, “Son you’re just starting, And have a long way to go, Always remember those things that you know: Like the soft yellow light that kept the monsters home That blue plastic razor that made you feel grown, The strange regal air of your Grandfather’s chair, Always on guard even though he’s never there, Those crowfoot lines by your father’s eyes, That always seemed to you like footprints of a smile, And floating in the back after those branches have passed, A small paper note, The first song that you wrote.” A young man’s a river, He’s wild and strong, Sometimes he runs careless, Sometimes he’s calm. He’s a part of everywhere that he flows, Till he’s emptied out at the coast.

Cowboys 04:02
I didn’t think about the card table sharks in those old country bars, Till I was old enough to go and sit down. I didn’t think that there was that much harm in hanging onto hearts, Until I found out that flush means you drown. And like cowboys of old I grabbed my rifle and I rode to the sunset, Oh the sunset, On a trail where the old men claim there’s a border town, Where the card sharks don’t lie, Where all the maidens catch your eye and the sunset, Oh the sunsets, Let a man forget about the cards he’s been hanging on. It was colder and the night was growing bolder I was getting tired, So I pulled off the trail and started a fire. With the dark came the songs of lonely dogs singing at the moon, In the desert that night I was one of them too. And like cowboys of old I grabbed my rifle and I rode to the sunset, Oh the sunset, On a trail where the old men claim there’s a border town, Where the card sharks don’t lie, Where all the maidens catch your eye and the sunset, Oh the sunsets, Let’s a man forget about the hearts he’s been hanging on. Oh that he’s hanging on. I rode up to the horizon, And touched the setting sun. And like cowboys of old I grabbed my rifle and I rode to the sunset, Oh the sunset, On a trail where the old men claim there’s a border town, Where the card sharks don’t lie, Where all the maidens catch your eye and the sunset, Oh the sunsets, Let a man forget about the hearts he’s been hanging on.
